Vantage Data Engineering Exam

This exam establishes that the candidate has the knowledge and skills necessary to design and operationalize data processing systems, manage and optimize data solutions including unstructured data and understand and leverage the tools and features of Vantage to enable interoperability. Register for the Vantage Data Engineering Exam
Starting August 18th, 2021, to register for the Vantage Data Engineering Exam, visit home.pearsonvue.com/teradata and select exam TDVAN4 Vantage Data Engineering Exam. Candidates are able to register and take the Data Engineering Exam either in a Pearson Vue test center or remotely, at their home or office. FAQs and additional information on this option are available. There are no prerequisites to take this exam.

Successful completion of this exam will earn you a Vantage Certified Data Engineering certification with a digital badge.
RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE
The audience for this exam is developers, data engineers, data scientists, devops, DBAs, operators, business analysts and architects. We would expect the successful candidate to have 2-3 years of experience in one of these job roles, a strong understanding of SQL and knowledge and experience with syntax for writing expressions.

Focuses on indexes, partitioning, database design, system default characteristics and impacts, processing executed in an Explain plan, steps to integrate new data features, access layers and QueryGrid as part of a data access strategy.
TRANSACTION PROCESSING AND LOCK MANAGEMENT - 8%
Focuses on advanced locking types and implications, differences between a transaction, request and statement and the impact of session characteristics on request via a scenario.
SQL CONCEPTS - 39%
Focuses on macros, stored procedures, tables, advanced data types, column level attributes, basic data types, constraints, referential integrity, indexes, row partitioning, views, expression functions, window aggregates, JSON functions, common clauses, operators, period data type functions, correlated subqueries, nulls with joins, scalar functions and subqueries, etc.
DATA INTEGRATION STRATEGIES - 13%
Focuses on TPT LOAD, EXPORT, UPDATE and STREAM operators, error habndline on a TPT job, TPT operators, optimal load strategies and access modules as part of a data access strategy.
SOLUTION OPTIMIZATION - 13%
Focuses on tuning processes and options to improve an existing application, advanced tuning options, designing and tuning an application, options and characteristics of an optimized application, resolving data quality issues and use cases for output from data profiling.
VANTAGE INTEGRATION AND INTEROPERABILITY – 11%
Focuses on moving data to and from object storage, third-party data storage, building and operationalizing a predictive model pipeline, event-driven architecture, native cloud services and OpenSource integration.
